Two-Day Workshop on Legal Literacy for Women Held in Malkangiri

Malkangiri Odisha 17 March : A two-day workshop aimed at empowering women through legal literacy campaign was held at Swagat Hotel in Malkangiri. The event was organized by Consulate General, a non-governmental organization based in Hyderabad. The workshop aimed to educate women about their legal rights and empower them to stand up for themselves.
The workshop was inaugurated by Sub Collector Akhaya Kumar Khemudu and presided by Sujata Mohapatra, State Coordinator of Swati organization. The event was attended by women from various parts of Malkangiri district. Among other dignitaries DSWO Anuradha Mohanty ,DIPRO Pramila Majhi ,Sri Ashok Patnaik and Sri.Satyajit Panigrahi were also present.
In his inaugural address, Khemudu highlighted the importance of legal literacy for women, especially in rural areas where women often face discrimination and are unaware of their legal rights. Mohapatra, in her address, stressed the need for more initiatives to empower women and create awareness about their legal rights.
The workshop covered a range of topics such as domestic violence, child marriage, sexual harassment, and property rights for women. Experts in the field of law and women’s rights conducted the sessions and interacted with the participants .
The participants appreciated the initiative taken by Consulate General and hoped that such workshops would be organized more frequently in the future. They also thanked the organizers for creating a safe space for them to share their experiences and learn from each other.
The event was a step towards creating a more informed and empowered community of women in Malkangiri district. The organizers hope that the knowledge gained from the workshop will help women to make informed decisions and lead more fulfilling lives.
