The decision was approved by the company’s Board of Directors at its meeting held on Friday. Sharma has also been appointed as an Additional Director on the Board.

Sharma brings over four decades of experience in the steel, power and mining sectors. He had earlier served as the company’s Managing Director from 2019 to 2022 and as Deputy Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer between 2010 and 2014. The company said his return is expected to support its next phase of expansion and operational growth.

Alongside Sharma’s appointment, the Board announced several key executive appointments to reinforce its leadership team.

Sandeep Modi has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Key Managerial Personnel. Modi has more than 20 years of experience in corporate finance and has previously served as CFO of Hindustan Zinc Limited, Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), and Talwandi Sabo Power Limited. Following his appointment, Sunil Agrawal will step down as Interim CFO but will continue to oversee the company’s finance function.

The Board also appointed Rajiv Kumar as Chief Operating Officer (COO). A metallurgical engineer with over 35 years of experience in the steel industry, Kumar has previously held leadership positions including CEO of Vedanta Aluminium and Vice President (Operations) at Tata Steel’s Kalinganagar plant. He will be responsible for overseeing operations across Jindal Steel’s manufacturing facilities and mining assets.

In another key appointment, Sukhjit S. Pasricha has been named Head of Human Resources. With nearly three decades of experience in human resource management, Pasricha has worked with leading organisations including IndiGo, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Finance and Airtel. He will lead the company’s talent and organisational development initiatives.
