Bhubaneswar : State-owned National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO) on Friday reported an 88 per cent year-on-year surge in its consolidated net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, aided by higher alumina sales, improved production volumes and favourable global aluminium prices.
The Navratna public sector enterprise posted a net profit of Rs 2,002.38 crore in the April-June quarter (Q1 FY27), compared with Rs 1,063.86 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Revenue from operations rose 39 per cent year-on-year to Rs 5,302.38 crore, reflecting strong operational momentum across its mining, alumina and aluminium businesses.
The financial results were approved by the company’s Board of Directors at a meeting held in New Delhi.
NALCO also achieved several operational milestones during the quarter, recording its highest-ever first-quarter bauxite excavation of 19.52 lakh tonnes, highest-ever Q1 calcined alumina production of 5.77 lakh tonnes, and highest-ever first-quarter alumina and hydrate sales of 3.47 lakh tonnes.
The Board also recommended a final dividend of Re 1 per equity share (20 per cent on the face value of Rs 5 each) for FY26, involving a payout of Rs 183.66 crore, subject to shareholders’ approval at the company’s 45th Annual General Meeting.
Chairman-cum-Managing Director Brijendra Pratap Singh said the strong quarterly performance reflected the company’s operational resilience and disciplined business strategy.
“The robust performance during the first quarter was driven by favourable global aluminium prices, higher production and sales volumes—particularly increased domestic alumina sales—and a supportive domestic business environment,” Singh said.
He attributed the performance to the strategic guidance of the Board, the commitment of employees and the support extended by the Ministry of Mines and the Government of Odisha.
Looking ahead, Singh said NALCO would continue to focus on completing its ongoing expansion projects, adding production capacities, improving operational efficiency, optimising resource utilisation and strengthening research and development to create long-term value for stakeholders.
The strong start to FY27 reinforces NALCO’s position as India’s leading integrated producer and exporter of alumina and aluminium, with the company benefiting from healthy commodity prices, rising domestic demand and sustained operational efficiencies.
