Guwahati, Sep 21: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today inspected several major healthcare, sports and urban infrastructure projects in and around Amingaon, including AIIMS Guwahati at Changsari, the under-construction 20,000-seater international-standard cricket stadium and the proposed Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) facility near the Integrated District Commissioner’s Office of Kamrup.

During his visit to AIIMS Guwahati at Changsari, the Chief Minister reviewed the medical services, infrastructure and ongoing activities of the premier healthcare institution. He interacted with doctors, officers and healthcare personnel to take stock of the functioning of the institution and the services being provided to patients.

Dr. Sarma also held discussions with AIIMS Guwahati Executive Director Prof. Dr. Ashok Puranik on measures to further strengthen patient-centric healthcare services and ensure quality treatment along with adequate facilities and amenities for patients.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of expanding the institution’s capacity and ensuring accessible and high-quality healthcare services for the people of Assam and the wider North-Eastern region.

He subsequently inspected the under-construction international-standard cricket stadium at Amingaon and reviewed the progress of the project. He took stock of various components of the state-of-the-art sporting facility and associated infrastructure being developed in the area.

The stadium is part of a larger sports infrastructure ecosystem coming up at Amingaon, which also includes the National Centre of Excellence for Badminton and a High-Performance Swimming Centre. The integrated facilities are expected to strengthen Assam’s sporting infrastructure and enhance the State’s capacity to host national and international sporting events.

Dr. Sarma also inspected the proposed MLCP near the Integrated District Commissioner’s Office, Kamrup, and the cricket stadium. He reviewed the proposed parking arrangements and requirements relating to traffic management, connectivity and other supporting infrastructure in view of the development of the large sports complex.

The Chief Minister directed the officials concerned to maintain close coordination among all agencies involved in the projects. He emphasised integrated planning of parking, traffic movement, connectivity and other supporting facilities to ensure smooth functioning of the entire development area.

He also directed that the projects be completed within the stipulated timelines while maintaining the required standards of quality.

The inspection highlighted the State Government’s focus on developing advanced healthcare facilities alongside modern sports and urban infrastructure.

MLA Diganta Kalita, Kamrup District Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra and other senior officials were present during the inspection.
