Bhubaneswar/Gopalpur, Aug. 23: Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited’s (TSSEZL) Gopalpur Industrial Park (GIP) in Odisha’s Ganjam district is emerging as a major green industrial hub in eastern India, with a cumulative investment pipeline of over Rs 65,400 crore across clean energy, advanced manufacturing and other sectors.
The Park’s green energy credentials received a further boost with the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Odisha government, Japan’s IHI Corporation, ACME Group and TSSEZL for a proposed 0.4 million tonne per annum (MTPA) Green Ammonia Plant and a jetty-less floating terminal. The project is expected to create around 3,400 employment opportunities and strengthen Odisha’s clean energy ecosystem.
“Our vision of transcending Gopalpur Industrial Park as a globally competitive industrial destination is coming true,” said Manikanta Naik, Managing Director, TSSEZL. He said the Odisha government-supported infrastructure for power and water supply had helped accelerate the Park’s development.
The renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem is also set to expand with Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited and Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) executing a binding land transfer agreement for TPREL’s proposed Rs 10,000-crore investment. The project will manufacture solar ingots and wafers, supporting India’s clean energy transition.
GIP was recently honoured with the ‘Smart Industrial Park’ award by Maritime Gateway for excellence in industrial infrastructure and innovation at the Smart Logistics Summit & Awards 2026 in Bhubaneswar.
The Park has attracted major domestic and global investors in green hydrogen, renewable energy equipment, specialty chemicals, tyres, mineral processing and food processing. Investors include Avaada GreenH2, Ocior Energy, Hygenco, Saatvik Solar Industries, World Green Energy, Superform Chemistries, SRF, Deepak Mining Solutions, ATC Tires, Tata Steel and Tata Consumer Products.
Acme, Avaada GreenH2 and Hygenco have opted for the Special Economic Zone, while several other investors have chosen the Domestic Tariff Area.
Spread over nearly 2,970 acres, GIP is being developed as an integrated, plug-and-play industrial ecosystem. It offers internal road networks, power and water supply, drainage, environmental clearances and multimodal connectivity, including access to Gopalpur Port through a dedicated utility corridor.
With its strategic east-coast location and growing clean-energy ecosystem, the Park is positioning itself as a key destination for sustainable manufacturing and helping strengthen Odisha’s emergence as a competitive green-industry hub.
