Nuakhai celebrates Odisha’s soil, people and spirit of fraternity: IGP Satyajit Nayak

Cuttack/Odisha,Sep 27 : Nuakhai is not merely a festival but a living expression of Odisha’s soil, people, traditions and spirit of fraternity, Inspector General of Police, Central Range, Dr Satyajit Nayak, IPS, said while addressing the 11th Nuakhai Bhetghat-2026 organised by the Paschim Odisha Yuva Manch Charitable Trust here.
Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, several legislators and other guests attended the programme. Dr Nayak said the tradition of offering the new harvest first to the deity and sharing it with family and the community conveyed a message of unity, gratitude and collective well-being. Seeking the blessings of elders, extending affection to younger members and exchanging greetings during the Nuakhai Bhetghat strengthened social bonds, he said.
Dr Nayak said the younger generation should remain connected with its roots, language, culture and traditions while embracing modernity. Nuakhai also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of farmers whose labour sustained society, he said. He called upon people to celebrate festivals responsibly by protecting the environment, avoiding waste and sharing happiness with the underprivileged.
He urged young people to take a more active role in social service, blood donation, de-addiction campaigns, road safety, cyber awareness and the protection of women and children. Dr Nayak congratulated the organisers of the Paschim Odisha Yuva Manch Charitable Trust and extended his wishes for peace, prosperity, happiness and good health to all.
