Whether among Muslims or Hindus, communalism of any kind is detrimental to the nation: Imran Masood

Guwahati/Assam, Oct 1: Political activities across Assam have gained intense momentum ahead of the upcoming by-election to the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency. In the midst of this electoral fervor, a massive campaign rally was organized yesterday at Batamari under the Dhing Legislative Assembly Constituency in support of Congress nominee and United Opposition consensus candidate Sibamoni Bora. The spontaneous turnout of thousands of local residents from Batamari significantly energized the Congress campaign.
Addressing the rally, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Gaurav Gogoi stated that Congress launched this electoral battle prioritizing the constitutional rights, interests, and genuine development of the people.
Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming affection, trust, and solidarity shown by the people of Batamari, he emphasized that this public support has further solidified the party’s momentum and appealed to voters to ensure a resounding victory for Sibamoni Bora. Member of Parliament Imran Masood also delivered an impassioned address in support of the party candidate, urging citizens to stand united against the ruling dispensation’s anti-people policies and step forward to defend democracy and the Constitution.
Speaking to media persons following the rally, MP Imran Masood remarked that a nationwide struggle for justice and constitutional rights is currently underway. Observing this growing momentum, he affirmed that a resounding message would travel across the country from the Nagaon constituency. He asserted that the fight spearheaded by Rahul Gandhi to safeguard the welfare and dignity of the impoverished, Muslims, minority groups, and indigenous communities across India will derive substantial strength from this by-election.
Sharply criticizing divisive politics, the parliamentarian stated unequivocally that communalism—whether propagated by Muslims or Hindus—brings no good to the country. He noted that opportunistic forces attempting to solicit votes by stoking communal tensions will be decisively rejected and exposed in the court of the people. When asked by reporters regarding the anticipated victory margin, Masood said that the exact tally remains the prerogative of the voters, but the ground atmosphere is exceptionally positive and the Congress candidate is set to register a landslide win.
The election rally was attended by Congress Legislative Party (CLP) Leader Wazed Ali Choudhury, AICC Co-Incharge for Assam Manoj Chauhan, MLAs Aftab Uddin Mollah and Abdur Rahim Ahmed, Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress President Mira Borthakur Goswami, Nagaon by-election observers, District Congress Committee President Runumoni Bora, along with numerous office-bearers, grassroots workers, and supporters across district, mandal, and block committees.
