Spectacular Kick-Off: Malyavanta Mohotshav Opens its Doors to Enthusiastic Crowds in a Dazzling Ceremony

Malkangiri,17 December 2023:-The much-anticipated Malyavanta Mohotshav commenced in grandeur on December 15th, with the Pallishri Mela launching from the 19th, leading up to the inauguration at Malkangiri . The festivities began with a spectacular three-kilometer-long Kalash Yatra, culminating at the main stadium grounds. Distinguished dignitaries, including SDC Chairman Adam Raba, District Magistrate Vishal Singh, ADM Vedabar Pradhan, District Council cum EO Ratnakar Sahu, and Sub Collector Dr. Akshya Kumar Khemudu, presented the ceremonial urns.
The procession, witnessed by over 10,000 attendees, showcased traditional dances and songs from tribes such as Koya, Didai, Bonda, Durua, and Parja, captivating the audience. The ceremonial urns were reverently placed in the main pavilion amid the resonant sounds of conch shells, hoolauli, and haribol by self-help groups.
In the evening, Minister Tusarkanti Behera, the Chief Guest, inaugurated both the Malyavanta Mohotshav and Pallishree Mela. The minister explored stalls from various departments and women self-help groups, displaying a diverse array of goods. The event was graced by Ex-MP Pradeep Majhi, Zilla Porishad President Samari Tangulu, and MLA Aditya Madhi.
Cultural extravaganzas unfolded, featuring performances such as Bihu from Assam, Odissi dance from Balimela, Ranpa dance from Ganjam, and Banda dance from Malkangiri.
On the second day, Additional Chief Secretary Satyabrat Sahu and SWR DIG Charan Singh Meena joined as Chief Guest and Collector Nabarangpur Dr. Kamal Lochan Mishra and Collector Koraput Abdaal M. Akhtar as Guest of Honor. Awards and certificates were distributed to individuals and groups excelling in various competitions, including Gotipua, Durua Dance of Mathili , Malkangiri Dhemsa, preserving the rich tribal art and culture of the district and beyond. The festival successfully united communities and upheld the vibrant traditions defining the cultural tapestry of Malkangiri.
