Koraput, July 3: Seven persons of Sana Nerka  village were arrested in connection with an attack on  police on Saturday under Kakrigum police limits in Koraput district of Odisha .

 Sources said, Yesterday  villagers erupted following a death of villager Lalit Kamar met with an accident near Bariguda village on Friday evening.  Sources said that the Lalit crashed into the back wheel of the truck while he was returning from Damanjodi to his village by a motorcycle.  He died on the spot and the truck driver fled away from the spot and informed the police station regarding the incident. Later the Kakriguma police rushed to the spot, cleared the away by sifting the victim and accident vehicles. However, Villagers alleged that the police act was illegal as the dead body was sent for postmortem at SLNMCH Koraput without informing the deseased family member.  While police claim that body was sifted for treatment as he was unconscious. The villagers did not accept the act of the police and blocked the Kakriguma-Damanjodi road on Friday. The irked Villagers attacked the  OIC Ullash Chandra Rout and ASI Kishore Choudhury while they attempted to pacify the situation.. Next day on (Saturday) villagers gathered and blocked busy state highway 326 demanding compensation for the deceased family members. Following the road blockade hundreds of vehicles were detained from both side, meanwhile police force from Koraput and Laxmipur  deployed to control the mob at the agitation spot at Kakriguma. Police managed to control the situation and seven people were arrested in connection with different sections of IPC.
