Bhubaneswar, March 10: To sensitize gender equality in the sphere of education and mark the theme of International Women’s Day, ‘Embrace Equity’, The Aditya Birla Public School Bhubaneswar celebrated a ‘Women in Education’ event. The event included speeches, discussions, and cultural programmes aimed at highlighting the importance of empowering women through education.

The programme began with the traditional way of lighting the lamp, which was followed by the Welcome Song. In his welcome address, the school’s principal, Mr. L. N. Dash, stated that The Aditya Birla Public School Bhubaneswar is committed to promoting excellence through determination and hard work and that, in this journey, all the stakeholder groups, irrespective of gender segregation, need to take part according to their capacities. He further emphasized the importance of creating a gender-sensitive, conducive environment for students to learn and grow and urged everyone to work together towards achieving this goal. Mr. Dash also acknowledged the efforts of the faculty members and staff in ensuring that the school continues to provide quality education to its students. He added that the school has created a gender sensitive environment in which nobody would feel alienated. Thanking the Group Advisor- Education, ABMCPL, Dr. S. Ganguli, Mr. Dash said that the school’s efforts towards inclusivity and diversity have been recognized by many, and we will continue to strive towards creating a safe and welcoming space for all students, in which they can excel in academics and cocurricular activities.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Akhil Kumar Mishra, IIS, Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, also emphasized the importance of women’s participation in various fields and urged them to break the stereotypes and work towards their goals with determination. He also focused on the responsibilities of men towards their counterparts. Taking examples from the ancient Indian scriptures, he emphasized the importance of treating women with respect and equality and encouraged men to take an active role in promoting gender equality.

One of the guests, Ms. Sarojini Boita, spoke about the changing scenario of Indian society, where women are increasingly involved. Indicating the change as a revolution for women, Ms. Parida encouraged the women to participate with full enthusiasm.

The parents played an active role in the programme. They were accompanied by their wards and showcased their talents through various performing arts like solo song, duet song, group song, solo dance, group dance, etc. The programme aimed to foster a sense of community and appreciation for the arts. It was a great opportunity for parents and children to bond over shared interests and talents.

The participants were able to showcase their creativity and learn from each other in a supportive environment. Overall, the programme had a positive impact on the participants’ social and emotional well-being.

The programme was ended with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem. It was well coordinated by the Admin Officer Mr. N Sahu and team of teachers.

The event was a huge success, and the organizers were praised for their efforts in making it a memorable experience. The participants left with a sense of satisfaction and appreciation for the hard work put in by the team.
