Uttarakhand,Apr 23 :  A government official in Uttarakhand was killed on Sunday while he was trying to take a selfie outside a helicopter in Kedarnath. The official, identified as Jitendra Kumar Saini, was the financial controller of Uttarakhand Civil Aviation development authority.

The mishap took place at a helipad in Kedarnath Dham.

Saini came into the range of the tail rotor blade of the helicopter while he was trying to take a selfie.

The incident took place a day after the Char Dham yatra was started on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya with the opening of the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri in Uttarkashi district for pilgrims.

Pilot among 7 dead as helicopter crashes near Uttarakhand’s Kedarnath        

Over 16 lakh pilgrims have already registered for the pilgrimage and the numbers are rising. Meanwhile, Kedarnath will be opened on April 25 and Badrinath on April 27.
