Malkangiri,26 september ,2023:-In a heartwarming display of community support and benevolence, the Rotary Club Malkangiri has taken a significant step to enable Harishchandra Pangi, a resident of Laxmipur Village in the Lugel GP under Podia Block, Malkangiri, to pursue his higher education. Harish Chandra Pangi’s journey towards educational aspirations took a remarkable turn when he crossed paths with his former high school teacher, Uma Sankar Patnaik, in Malkangiri.

Harishchandra Pangi had come to Malkangiri seeking employment and had been working at a local bookstore for two months. It was during this time that he reconnected with his former teacher, Mr. Uma Sankar Patnaik. Upon learning about Harish’s circumstances, Mr. Patnaik offered him accommodation at his home and assistance in finding work. Subsequently, Mr. Patnaik introduced Harish to Rotarian Shayambabu Dora, a member of the Rotary Club Malkangiri to join in his Shop Rohan Pumps and Sanitary

During their meeting, Harish shared the poignant story of his life. He had lost his father during childhood, and his mother had been the sole provider for him, his younger brother, and sister. Tragically, in 2022, his mother succumbed to a snake bite, leaving Harish burdened with debt incurred for her cremation expenses. To repay this debt, Harish had taken on various labor-intensive jobs, including construction work, loading sand and bricks, and collecting kendu leaves. Despite these hardships, he managed to earn 5400 rupees and successfully clear his debt.

Moved by Harish’s determination and his desire to continue his education, Rotarion Dorababu inquired about his academic qualifications. Harish revealed that he had completed his 10th-grade examinations in 2021 but had been unable to pursue further studies due to his family’s challenging circumstances.

In response to Harish’s expressed interest in higher education, the Rotary Club Malkangiri, under the leadership of President G. Shyambabu Dora and Secretary A. Iswar Rao, initiated efforts to secure a spot for him at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) University in Bhubaneswar. The club reached out to senior Rotarians in Bhubaneswar for assistance in securing a seat at KISS University , as the application deadline was approaching.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of senior Rotarians, notably Rtn. Anil Kumar Samal, IAS, and CDA Chairman, Harishchandra Pangi secured a seat at KISS University for his +2 studies. Rotary Club Malkangiri has now adopted Harish as a scholar and is committed to supporting his education journey, including his +3 studies and beyond, to help him achieve his dreams of becoming a graduate and postgraduate.

This heartening initiative by the Rotary Club Malkangiri serves as a testament to the power of community and the transformative impact of education on individuals’ lives. It underscores the club’s commitment to nurturing talent and providing opportunities for deserving students to pursue their educational aspirations.

Today, Harishchandra Pangi left for Bhubaneswar in a Dilkhush Bus to join KISS University, and the Rotary Club of Malkangiri provided Harish with the means to travel to Bhubaneswar, where he will commence his education journey towards a bright future at KISS University.
