Parents of Dropout Students in Malkangiri Demand Reopening of Hostels .

Malkangiri,03 October 2023:-Parents of dropout students in Malkangiri district are raising concerns and demanding action from the Collector regarding the re-education program initiated by the state government. The government had taken a significant step by providing remedial education to over 5,000 identified dropout students in the district. These students were accommodated in dormitories, with the government covering the costs of education, food, and educational materials.
In June 2022, the Bapuji High School,Aanlapadar in Matheli block for girls hostels and Government High School Tarlakota,for boys were opened to provide a conducive learning environment for these students. However, after a 15-day summer vacation in May 2023, these students returned to their homes. Regrettably, even after the reopening of schools in June, the dormitories at these two schools have remained closed, depriving these students of their education.
Parents of the dropout students attending these schools have expressed their concerns to the Malkangiri Collector today. It is disheartening to note that four months have elapsed since the schools initially opened, and the 10th-grade students continue to face obstacles in their education. The parents believe that the government’s efforts to reintegrate dropout students into the education system are falling short of expectations.
In light of these concerns, parents have submitted a formal demand letter to the district administration, urging the immediate reopening of the dormitories at these two schools. The delay in resuming education for these students raises worries about their academic prospects, and parents are seeking swift action to rectify the situation.
