Mumbai, Oct. 22: The Global Maritime India Summit, 2023, one of the largest maritime summits in the world, anchored Rs. 10 lakh crores of investment during the three day event, which concluded here on 19th October. With this huge feat, the third edition of the GMIS made a significant stride towards achievement of ‘Amrit Kaal Vision 2047’ of Rs. 80 trillion investment – a vision document shared by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for the development of maritime sector by 2047. The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the third edition of Global Maritime India Summit 2023 in Mumbai via video conferencing on 17th October, 2023. The Prime Minister inaugurated, dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone for projects worth more than Rs 23,000 crores that are aligned with the ‘Amrit Kaal Vision 2047’ for the Indian maritime blue economy. Of the above, PPA related projected dedicated to the nation are – 10 MTPA New Iron Ore berth for handling of Iron Ore exports at Paradip Port on BOT basis worth Rs. 655.56 Cr., 30 MTPA capacity Mechanization of EQ-1,2,3 berths for handling of Coal exports at Paradip Port on BOT basis worth Rs. 1437.76 Cr., development of 10MTPA New Coal berth for handling of Coal imports at Paradip Port on BOT basis worth Rs. 655.56 Cr., 82 KM long Haridaspur-Paradip Rail Line worth Rs. 3,200 Cr. Beside this, foundation stone was laid for Deepening and Optimization of Inner Harbour facilities including development of Western Dock on BOT basis to handle Cape size vessels worth Rs. 3004.63 Cr.

At the valedictory session of the GMIS, 2023, the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal unveiled the  ‘GMIS 2023 Mumbai Declaration’ along with the Union Minister of Finance, Nirmal Sitharaman; the Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal; the Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan; the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendrabhai Patel; the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis; the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shripad Naik, the Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shantanu Thakur among others.

Various categories of awards were conferred on participating organizations. PPA bagged the “Maritime Excellence Achievers 2023 – Port Operational Excellence Award”.  Shri P. L. Harandh, Chairman & Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta, Dy. Chairman, PPA received the award from Shri Goyal.

Congratulating Team PPA on this stupendous performance, Shri P.L. Haranadh, Chairman, said that the hard work, passion, and determination shown by the Team has helped a lot to achieve several new milestones.

PPA has entered into MoUs worth Rs. 1 lakh Cr. approximately with various prospective investors during the summit, which will significantly boost the maritime economy of the state.

Besides, PPA organised and convened two sessions in the summit, which were well attended and appreciated. Especially, Session on Odisha received the 2nd Best Session Award in the Summit. One of the major attractions was PPA’s stall in the exhibition, which was appreciated by visiting Ministers and Secretaries

Building upon the legacy of its preceding editions, the third meet unveiled broader prospects for domestic and international maritime stakeholders. The Global Martitime Summit witnessed participation from more than 60 countries, 215 international and national speakers and 50,000 physical and virtual attendees.
