Cuttack, Nov. 19: The Odisha police on Saturday recovered the body of a man who reportedly went missing eight ago days from farmland near Olatpur in Cuttack. The body had his eyes gouged out and a cut on his abdomen.
The deceased was identified as Kelucharan Routray from Unit-1 area in Bhubaneswar.
His family members alleged Routray’s eyes and kidney had been taken out by organ traffickers.
As per reports, Routray complained of sickness and vomited multiple times last Friday, following which he called the 108 ambulance service to take him to Capital hospital.
However, he went missing after that. Capital hospital also did not have any OPD registrations in his name.
“When I saw his body, I found his eyes were gouged. His kidney was taken out through a cut in his abdomen. His chest also has a cut. His face was deformed with acid too,” said brother of the deceased, Bishnuprasad Routray.
“There is a big organ trafficking racket operating here. I suspect staff of 108 ambulance service are involved in this murder, because my brother was last seen in the ambulance but the Capital hospital does not have any records of him. My brother will get justice if the case is investigated thoroughly,” he said.
The police launched an investigation after the family lodged a formal complaint.
