Bhubaneswar, Dec. 12 : Archana Nag, who is infamously known as Odisha’s ‘honey trap queen’ and “lady blackmailer,” on Tuesday walked out of Jharpada Jail in Bhubaneswar after 14 months as she got bails in all the cases instituted against her.
She was released after the High Court of Orissa granted her bails in all three cases registered against her, the latest being the case pertaining to the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Her husband Jagabandhu Chand, who was also earlier arrested on a blackmail charge and later released on bail, came to the jail to receive her.
The HC, while granting bails in three cases, has asked Nag to cooperate with the ongoing investigations. The court has barred her from influencing the witnesses or giving any opinion outside regarding her trials.
During her brief interaction with reporters outside the jail, Nag she had said she would expose all who are involved in this case.
“I am not the person who will keep mum to injustice. I will speak up and expose everybody. The court will take action against all the persons involved in this,” Nag said.
“My case is sub-judice. I will cooperate in the investigation as per the Court’s order,” she added.
Earlier in April this year, Nag was granted bail in a case lodged at Nayapalli Police Station. She had got bail in two out of three cases against her earlier.
Archana is accused of extorting money from influential people by blackmailing them with objectionable videos. She was arrested on October 6, 2022 after her former associate, Shradhanjali Behera lodged a complaint at the Khandagiri Police Station on October 2, 2022. Shradhanjali had accused Nag, her husband Jagabandhu Chand, and their associate Khageswar Patra of trapping her in their racket, forcing her to blackmail the bigwigs.
A police complaint was also filed at Nayapalli Police Station by film producer Akshay Parija, accusing her of demanding Rs 3 crore by threatening to leak his obscene videos.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating the financial transactions of Archana Nag.
