Koraput MLA changes religion, embraces Buddhism

Koraput, May 12: Krushna Chandra Sagaria, the Congress MLA from Koraput, on Friday converted his religion from Hinduism to Buddhism.
Earlier on Thursday, Mr Sagaria had informed the media about his decision to change his religion.
In an affidavit filed on March 24, 2018 before the Executive Magistrate, Koraput, – the 48-year-old Mr Sagaria hailing from Burja village under Laxmipur police limits, has said he changed his religion under his own will, without any coercion and inducement.
“I intended to covert my religion as per my own will without any pressure, coercion and inducement. I’m ready to abide by all the provisions prescribed in Odisha Freedom of Religion Act, 1967 and 1989 and Odisha Freedom of Religion Rules, 19,” Mr Sagaria declared in the affidavit.
