JSPL Foundation Observes World Breast feeding Week 2022

Angul,Aug 2: JSPL Foundation in association with the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), National Health Mission (NHM) and Odisha Livelihood Mission (OLM) of Angul District observed the first day of the World Breastfeeding Week 2022 at Natada Gramapanchayat of Chhendipada Block. The weeklong program of 2022 aims to spread the message ‘Step Up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support’ and educate the women about the various advantages of Breastfeeding.
The field functionaries of JSPL Foundation along with the Ayush Medical Officer, Anganwadi Worker and ASHA workers of Chhendipada block sensitized the rural women about the benefits of Breast-milk for a child, and how it is the best source of nutrition for the new-born babies.
Breast milk contains a variety of components that help to protect babies from infection, and diseases. And, it is also easier for a baby to digest and to boost immunity. Furthermore, calcium and iron found in breast milk are also more easily absorbed.
To mark the day, a healthy baby show was also organised and the mothers were provided with a token of appreciation for keeping their babies healthy. A recipe demonstration was also organised to educate the mother to know about the value of locally available food materials which is affordable, accessible, and acceptable.
The Sarapanch, Natada Ms. Pranati Pradhan, who was the Chief Guest appreciated the sensitisation programme in her Gram Panchayat and advised the participants to share their experience and knowledge with other women to make the Panchayat as a healthy one.
Ms. Puspalata Satapathy, GM, CSR facilitated the programme and Ms. Sanghamitra Das, MO I/C (Ayush) sensitised the participants. AWWs, MBKs, ASHAs attended the meeting, in which more than 150 villagers were sensitised on the importance of Breastmilk. This week-long programme will be observed at different villages in the local villages.
