By A Iswar Rao
In a press conference held on Tuesday , the Congress party under the leadership of Sri.Gobinda Patra ,Dist.President has threatened to gherao the collectorate on 15th of this month over allegations of irregularities in the government procurement of paddy in the mandi. According to the party, farmers are facing problems as 8 to 10 kilos are being deducted from each quintal of paddy during the procurement process.
According to local farmers, the government procurement agencies have been deducting a significant amount of weight from their paddy, despite the grains being of good quality and meeting all the required standards. This has resulted in a loss of income for farmers and has caused widespread anger and frustration among them.
According to reports, many farmers have been denied for their crops and have been forced to sell their produce at significantly lower rates to the brokers than what is mandated by the government
The party claims that this is causing a huge financial loss to the farmers and is demanding immediate action against those responsible for the alleged irregularities. They have also demanded that the government ensure that farmers are not cheated in the procurement process and are paid the correct price for their produce.
The Congress party has also warned that they will take to the streets in protest if their demands are not met. They have urged the government to take immediate action to address the issues faced by farmers and to ensure that the procurement process is carried out in a fair and transparent manner.
The congress leaders G.Srinivas Rao,Sarat Ch.Buruda,Mangu khila, Bhima Barse, Isaq Khosla,Soroj Ku.Patra, Pravakar pala and other senior leaders were present in the press meet
The government is yet to respond to the allegations made by the Congress party, but farmers in the area are anxiously awaiting a resolution to the issue.
