KERALA,OCT 12: Two women were allegedly sacrificed as part of a ritual in a remote Kerala village by three people, including a couple, to gain wealth. The victims were killed, their body parts chopped, cooked and eaten by the accused. The two women, who had earned their daily bread selling lottery tickets on the streets, were allegedly sacrificed by the accused to settle financial issues and bring prosperity to their lives.

The body parts of the victims — Padma and Roslyn — were cut into pieces and buried in the backyard. Blood was splattered on walls and floor as part of the black magic ritual.

Kochi City Police Commissioner Nagaraju Chakilam on Wednesday in a press conference revealed that Shafi, one of the accused in the case, was the main conspirator behind the sordid murder.

According to Kochi CP, it was revealed during the course of investigation that one of the accused, Mohammad Shafi, is a “pervert” and is an accused in a rape case. He designed the conspiracy and trapped the other accused into believing human sacrifice is necessary for their financial well being, CP Nagaraju said.

The victim Padma’s body parts were recovered from one of the pits and the second victim Roslyn’s body parts were recovered from three pits near the house. We have recovered all parts of the bodies of the two women who were killed, the police commissioner said. DNA tests will be done and a scientific investigation will be done into the murders.

There’s a possibility that the accused ate parts of bodies after killing the victims. It is being investigated, but not confirmed yet. We’re investigating whether there are more accused and if more such cases have happened, the police commissioner said.

According to the police, Shafi is a sexual predator and a sadist. He derived sadistic pleasure from all this, Police Commissioner Nagaraju said. Based on the statements recorded, Shafi convinced the family to do the ritual. The couple involved in this case, have no prior crime history.

All the three accused have been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. A special investigation team has also been formed to probe the murder further.
