Bhubaneswar, March 10: The Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch arrested three persons and seized brown sugar worth over Rs 1 crore from their possession in Khordha district on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Sk Samir, Sayed Imtiyaz and Ratiranjan Routray were arrested following a raid at a hideout in Razabazar area under Jatani police limits.

As per initial reports, brown sugar weighing 1kg 320 grams has been seized along with Rs 1,65, 000 cash from their possession. The accused have been booked under Section 21(c)/29 of NDPS Act 1985 and further investigation in the case is underway.

It is pertinent to mention here that the STF has launched a special drive against illegal narcotics trade in Odisha. Since 2020, the STF has seized more than 50 Kg of Brown Sugar/Heroin and over 90 quintals of Ganja /Marijuna. The STF has also arrested more than 128 drugs dealers/peddlers in separate cases registered in different parts of the State so far during the special drive.
