Malkangiri,29 August, 2023:-Construction Workers Welfare Scheme Aid Distribution Camp was successfully organized at Malkangiri Block . The event was , a collaborative effort by Odisha Building and other Construction Workers Welfare, Labor and Employees State Insurance Department, and District Administration, aimed to provide essential aid to construction workers under the welfare scheme.

The camp welcomed esteemed guests, including Zilla Porishad Chairman Mrs. Samari Tangul as the Chief Guest. Also in attendance were Zilla Porishad Vice Chairman Mr. Patitapaban Baidya, ADM Malkangiri, Mr.Trinath Majhi ,Mr. Manoj Barik, Municipality Chairman, Smt. Kavitha Mahanty, Vice Chairman, Mr. Narendra Raika, Labor Officer, Mr. Sharat Panigarahi, District Labor Officer, and Mr. Biswaranjan Kanhar, Assistant Labor Officer.

During the event, Mrs. Tangul, highlighted the comprehensive support available for construction workers throughout their lives. She encouraged the community to spread awareness about these benefits. Mr. Majhi, the Additional District Magistrate, emphasized the pivotal role of construction workers in the village, state, and country’s progress. He urged workers to register for Social Security Assistance and renew their registration cards annually.

District Labor Officer Mr. Panigarahi revealed that 55,940 workers had registered, with 32,382 already receiving aid. The camp issued identity cards to 103 individuals in the organized sector and 157 in the unorganized sector. Notably, financial assistance was extended for education, death, anesthesia, maternity, and marriage purposes.

In a significant gesture, two individuals in the unorganized sector were granted Rs. 2 lakh each. The event concluded under the leadership of District Information and Public Relations Officer Pramila Majhi, with Assistant Labor Officer Poorrnima Duruka delivering the vote of thanks. The distribution camp marked a step forward in ensuring the well-being of construction workers and their families.
