District Level National Deworming Day Inaugurated at IMST School Malkangiri

Malkangiri,10 Aug,2023 :Malkangiri District Health Department has launched the District level National Deworming Day at IMST School with a fervent inauguration ceremony. The event saw the participation of esteemed guests, including Mr. Trinath Majhi, Additional District Magistrate, as the chief guest, and Dr. Prafulla Kumar Nanda, CDMO, as the guest of honor. Ms. Sasmita Sahu, the District Project Manager of National Health Mission, efficiently managed the stage.
The campaign aims to provide deworming medicines to a significant population. A staggering 2,44,391 individuals aged 5 to 19, along with 29,181 women between 20 to 24 years, are the prime focus in the district. Youngsters aged 1 to 5 years are administered syrup, while those over 6 years receive pills. For those who missed the dose on the 10th, a mop-up day has been set for August 17th.
The distribution of anthelmintic tablets and syrup is being conducted across all Anganwadi centers and schools. To educate students about the advantages of these anthelmintic pills, notable figures like District Social Welfare Officer Mrs. Indira Pradhan, District Welfare Officer Mr. Prafulla Kumar Bhujbal, Additional District Health Officer Dr. Brajbandhu Das, and Dr. Dhaneshwar Mohapatra addressed the school assembly.
The initiative highlights the commitment of the Malkangiri District Health Department to ensure the health and well-being of its residents. By targeting a wide range of age groups and offering accessible medication distribution, the National Deworming Day program aims to make a substantial impact on the district’s overall health.
