District Police Apprehends Bike Thief and Two Purchasers, Seizes 9 Stolen Bikes

Malkangiri, June 27, 2023 – In a significant breakthrough, the Malkangiri District Police, under SP Nitesh Wadwani, successfully apprehended a notorious bike thief and two of his accomplices, while also recovering a total of nine stolen motorcycles. The operation came to fruition after a diligent investigation led by the Kalimela Police.
The sequence of events unfolded on the 25th of June when Mr. Mohadev Khilla from Rasabeda reported the theft of his motorcycle to the local authorities. Taking immediate action, the Kalimela Police initiated an extensive investigation to trace the stolen bike and bring the culprits to justice.
During the course of their investigation, the Kalimela Police set up a checkpoint at MV-66, carefully monitoring passing motorcycles. It was during this checkpoint operation that they intercepted a suspicious motorcycle. Upon closer inspection, the police officers discovered that the bike was stolen one and he was planning to sell the Motor Cycle in Koraput Dist.
The rider of the intercepted motorcycle, identified as Gorka Janu, a native of Nepal, presently staying in Vellage Rasabeda under Kalimela PS , was promptly apprehended by the police. Under interrogation, Gorka Janu confessed to being involved in a series of thefts in both Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. He also disclosed the identities of two individuals who had purchased stolen motorcycles from him.
Acting swiftly, the Malkangiri District Police led by ASP Rahul Goel,IPS, Inspr.Suryaprakash Nayak and ASI S Bisimajhi apprehended the two purchasers based on the information provided by Gorka Janu. Subsequently, a total of nine stolen motorcycles were recovered from various locations.
The District Police have filed cases against the bike thief, Gorka Janu, and the two purchasers. The successful operation and recovery of nine stolen motorcycles have undoubtedly served as a deterrent to criminal activities in the region.
