Malkangiri, 7 September,2023:-Special camps have been set up in Mudulipada and Andhrahal Gram Panchayats of Khairput Block, aimed at raising awareness among Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) youth regarding their voting rights under the Voter Awareness (SWEEP) program. Dr. Akshay Kumar Khemundu, the Election Registration Officer and Sub Collector, inaugurated the camp as the chief guest, emphasizing the importance of voting in strengthening democracy.

Dr. Khemundu highlighted the state government’s commitment to tribal development and underlined the need for increased PVTG youth inclusion in the voter list. To facilitate registration, he explained the various application forms available, such as Form-6 for additions, Form-7 for error correction, and Form-8 for voter identity card transfers and corrections.

During the camp, a total of 214 forms were collected. Specifically, 179 individuals applied for inclusion using Form-6, while 35 sought migration and corrections of voter identity cards using Form-8. Notably, nine booth voters actively participated in the process.

The camp enjoyed the presence of several key officials, including Sri.Umashkar Koya, the Electoral Registration Officer and BDO of Khairput, BDO of Malkangiri Prabhati Jhodia, Sri.Ashok Chakraborty, Assistant Collector, Sri.Salman Raika, Project Leader at Banda Development Authority (BDA), and sri. Jyot Ranjan Sethi, the Block Social Security Officer. Additionally, booth label officers, booth label supervisors, and BDA staff contributed to the success of the event.

These special SWEEP camps aim to empower PVTG youth with the knowledge and resources necessary to participate fully in the democratic process, aligning with the government’s commitment to tribal welfare and inclusive governance.
