Harbhanga BDO provides financial assistance to ailing Minaketan Mahakud

Boudh, Aug. 31: In an exemplary prompt response to reach out to the people in distress, Harbhanga Block Development Officer Nilakantha Behera on Monday handed over a cheque of Rs 10,000 to the family of Minaketan Mahakud, a 40-year-old man of Ratanpur village under Bamanda gram panchayat in Odisha’s Boudh district.
Minaketan who is suffering from suffering from some unidentified disease had sought the administration’s support for treatment.
After a news was published in Indus Valley Times on August 29, 2020, Harbhanga Block Development Officer Nilakantha Behera had on Sunday reached Minaketan’s houseand assured him support for treatment.
Minaketan’s wife Gitanjali and three children are now literally facing tough challenge for survival. They are even unable to arrange two square meals a day.
Gitanjali had appealed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his help.
Sources said the Chief Minister’s Officer has taken note of the plight of Minaketan’s family and asked the Boudh district administration to see that the ailing man gets proper treatment.
A daily-wage earner, Mahakuda has been out of job for two years now after being down with ailment. His family has sold everything for his treatment. He has visited VSS Medical College and Hospital at Burla, SCB Medical College and Hospital Cuttack and private doctors but his disease still remain uncured.
Gitanjali thanked CM Naveen Patnaik and BDO Nilakantha Behera for their prompt support.
