Malkangiri ,May 12 , 2023 :In a significant development, senior officials from various security agencies, including Intelligence Director Sanjeev Ponda, ADG Operation Amitabh Thakur, DIG Koraput Rajesh Pandit, SP Malkangiri Nitesh Wadwani and senior officials of the Border Security Force (BSF), visited the Tulasi Pahad in the Mathili Block of Malkangiri district. The visit aimed to assess the prevailing Maoist activities in the region, which has long been a hotbed for Naxal insurgency.

Situated on the border of Odisha and Chhattisgarh, Tulasi Pahad has been under the dominance of Maoist forces who have ruled the area with an iron fist, often resorting to violence and intimidation. This region has served as a training and shelter hub for Maoists, functioning as a de facto capital. The inaccessibility of the area, combined with the Maoist stronghold, has impeded the implementation of government policies and hindered development efforts.

During the visit, the officials identified a suitable location for establishing a permanent BSF camp, aiming to tackle the Maoist presence effectively. The establishment of a permanent camp will ensure a consistent security presence and aid in curbing Maoist activities in the region. Furthermore, it will create a sense of security among the local population, encouraging them to actively participate in the developmental initiatives.

In addition to addressing the security concerns, the officials also discussed the government’s commitment to the development of the area. They assured the local residents that government policies and welfare schemes would be implemented effectively, ensuring the region’s progress and prosperity. The establishment of the permanent BSF camp is expected to create a favorable environment for the government to extend its reach and implement development programs that were previously hindered by Maoist dominance.

The visit by the senior officials signifies a proactive approach by the government in tackling the Naxal insurgency issue and promoting overall development in the affected areas. With the establishment of a permanent BSF camp and a renewed focus on implementing government policies, there is hope for a positive change in the region, bringing stability and progress to the lives of the local population.

As the government takes decisive steps towards countering the Maoist influence, the collaboration between security agencies, local administration, and the community will play a crucial role in achieving lasting peace and development in the region.
