‘Lonely’ Satyendar Jain requests for more inmates in his cell, Tihar Jail superintendent gets notice for shifting 2
NEW DELHI,MAY 15 : A show-cause notice has been issued to the superintendent of Tihar jail no. 7 for shifting, without permission, two inmates to the cell of former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain on the latter’s request.
Satyendar Jain, who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with a money laundering case, wrote to the superintendent of Tihar jail no. 7 on May 11. In the letter, the jailed AAP leader said he was feeling lonely and depressed and requested to lodge two more persons with him for social interaction based on his doctor’s suggestion.

On his request, the superintendent of jail no. 7 transferred two prisoners to his cell. However, when the Tihar jail administration came to know about it, both the prisoners were immediately shifted back to their cell.
Following the incident, the jail administration issued the show-cause to the superintendent of jail no. 7.

According to the jail administration, the superintendent took this decision without informing the officials concerned.
“Without informing the administration and taking permission, this procedure cannot be done,” the jail administration said.
In May last year, Satyendar Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the money laundering case. He was a minister in the Arvind Kejriwal government and held the portfolios of health and prisons.
Satyendar Jain’s party colleague Manish Sisodia is also lodged in Tihar jail after he was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26 in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.
