Malkangiri 16 May 2023 : The National Dengue Day was observed with great enthusiasm at the District Headquarters Hospital in Malkangiri. The event saw the presence of ADM Malkangiri Maheswar Chandra Nayak as the chief guest, who highlighted the crucial role played by Asha and Anganwadi workers in combating the spread of dengue.

During his address, ADM Malkangiri Maheswar Chandra Nayak expressed his gratitude to the frontline healthcare workers for their relentless efforts in ensuring the well-being of the community. He acknowledged the contribution of Asha and Anganwadi workers, who have been instrumental in creating awareness and providing crucial support in the fight against dengue.

As per  some statistical data related to dengue cases in the region. In 2021, a total of 2,698 suspects underwent blood tests, out of which 336 were confirmed positive for dengue. The number of tests conducted in 2022 increased to 5,309, with 359 cases of dengue being detected. In a positive turn of events, in 2023, despite conducting 585 tests, no cases of dengue were detected, signifying a significant improvement in the control of the disease.

The Additional Public Health Officer, Dr. Dhaneswar Mohapatra, and Dr. Anil Mishra, both emphasized the importance of awareness campaigns and preventive measures to curb the spread of dengue. They stressed the need for community participation, urging people to maintain cleanliness, eliminate stagnant water sources, and use mosquito repellents.

The event at DHH Malkangiri included various activities such as informative sessions, awareness programs, and interactive sessions with healthcare professionals.

With the combined efforts of the local administration, healthcare workers, and the community, the district of Malkangiri aims to further reduce the impact of dengue and ensure the well-being of its residents. National Dengue Day served as a reminder to remain vigilant and proactive in the fight against this mosquito-borne disease.
