NCPCR Camp Addresses Child Rights Violations, Receives 456 Complaints

Malkangiri,07.07.2023 :The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) conducted a grievance camp at a Government High School in Khairput block to address child rights violations. The camp received an overwhelming response, with 456 complaints registered, out of which 33 were resolved during the event.
Led by Smt. Anu Chaudhary, the Registrar of NCPCR, the camp saw the presence of important individuals such as Sri Prabhat Kumar Sahoo, Secretary of the State Child Right Protection Commission, Sri Maheshwar Chandra Naik, Additional District Magistrate, and Smt. Sanjukta Pradhan, Chairperson of the District Welfare Committee.
The Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Department contributed essential resources, including wheelchairs, CP chairs, tricycles, hearing aids, and disability pensions. Advocate Shivam Rai supervised the camp’s arrangements, ensuring its smooth functioning.
Efforts were made to create Aadhaar cards, bank accounts, disability certificates, and health cards for the children. The camp aimed to improve hostel facilities, infrastructure, and classrooms for children from SC and ST communities.
The Registrar instructed the District Social Welfare Officer to gather grievances from Anganwadis, resulting in an additional 60 complaints. The District Education Officer was tasked with enrolling children with disabilities in schools and filling teaching vacancies.
The camp also emphasized the issuance of birth and caste certificates, as well as opening bank accounts for financial support. Special attention was given to the rehabilitation and assistance of orphans and children with single parents, highlighting the camp’s comprehensive approach to protecting child rights.
