Bhubaneswar, June 16: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday conducted a comprehensive review of security and administrative arrangements ahead of the upcoming visits of President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the state later this week.
Chairing a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister assessed preparedness across key departments to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the two high-profile visits. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, and other senior officials.
Discussions focused on security deployment, protocol management, traffic regulation, logistical support, venue readiness, and inter-departmental coordination. Officials were directed to maintain seamless coordination and ensure that all arrangements meet the highest standards of security and administration.
The visits assume added significance as the Odisha government prepares to mark the completion of two years of its tenure with a major public event in Rairangpur, the hometown of President Droupadi Murmu in Mayurbhanj district. The celebrations will coincide with the President’s birthday on June 20.
According to the official schedule, President Murmu is expected to arrive in Odisha on June 19, while Prime Minister Modi will visit the state on June 20 to participate in the anniversary programme.
The Prime Minister is also expected to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for a series of development projects collectively valued at several thousand crore rupees. The projects are anticipated to strengthen infrastructure, enhance public services, and accelerate economic development across Odisha.
The state administration has intensified preparations in view of the back-to-back visits of the country’s two highest constitutional functionaries, with security agencies and civil authorities working in close coordination to ensure a successful and incident-free programme.
