Paradip, Nov.5: Paradip Port Authority (PPA) recently hosted a senior delegation from the East Coast Railway, Khurda Road Division, for an operational review meeting aimed at strengthening rail-port coordination, improving cargo evacuation and addressing operational challenges at port terminals.

The East Coast Railway delegation was led by Mr. K.V.S.R.K. Kishore, Chief Freight Transportation Manager (CFTM), and Mrs. Preeti Rana, Senior Divisional Operations Manager (Sr. DOM), Khurda Road Division, Bhubaneswar.

The meeting was chaired by Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, Paradip Port Authority, in the presence of Shri T. Venu Gopal, Deputy Chairperson, and Heads of Departments (HODs) of PPA.

The discussions focused on reviewing operational performance, assessing cargo evacuation efficiency, identifying bottlenecks and strengthening coordination between the port and railway authorities for seamless movement of freight.

Following the meeting, the railway delegation, along with PPA officials, undertook site visits to key operational areas, including manual sidings, DDIP and KICT, to assess ground-level operational conditions and identify areas requiring attention.

As part of the review, the two organisations agreed on key coordination measures, including fortnightly video-conference (VC) reviews between the CFTM team and PPA leadership, along with daily exception reporting to monitor operational challenges and facilitate timely resolution of bottlenecks.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of Paradip Port Authority and East Coast Railway towards strengthening rail-port connectivity, improving operational efficiency, accelerating cargo evacuation and supporting the growth of India’s maritime trade.
