Jajpur ,Feb 17 :  At least 14 people were arrested on Thursday for allegedly being involved in incidents of violence that occurred in   Jajpur district on       Wednesday during the poll.

14  people were arrested from the villages under Jajpur Sadar and Dharmasala police stations of Jajpur district on Thursday .

 On Wednesday some miscreants looted ballot papers and stamps from booth no- 1 at Durgapur village under Sujanapur Gram Panchayat in Jajpur district . 

We on Thursday arrested miscreants who looted ballot papers and stamps   on Wednesday , said Rahul P R the Superintendent of Police, Jajpur.

Keeping in view the cases of booth capturing , snatching away of ballot boxes  and other poll related violence during the first  phase of panchayat polls earlier, security has been tightened up for the  other four  phases of  panchayat polls  at the sensitive and hyper-sensitive polling booths in the district, added the police officer.
