Rahul Gandhi unlikely to speak in Parliament today as PM, Amit Shah not present
NEW DELHI,AUG 8 : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is unlikely to address the Parliament on Tuesday as the House debates the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government.
The party decided to delay Rahul Gandhi’s speech as PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were not present in Parliament.
Rahul Gandhi was supposed to initiate the debate on the no-trust vote in Parliament. However, Congress later decided to pitch MP Gaurav Gogoi for it.
According to party sources, Congress will be publicising the timing of Rahul Gandhi’s speech just three hours ahead of it.

Responding to the changes in Congress’s order of speakers, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said, “Maybe Rahul Gandhi woke up late.”
“Maybe Rahul Gandhi wasn’t ready today or maybe he woke up late. Gaurav Gogoi spoke well. I am a victim of the turbulent times of Manipur. My uncle suffered there and was injured,” the BJP leader said.
Initiating the no-confidence debate in the Lok Sabha earlier today, Gaurav Gogoi said the opposition bloc INDIA was forced to bring the no-confidence motion against the government to break PM Modi’s “vow of silence” on Manipur. He alleged that a government which talks about “one India has created two Manipurs — one living in hills and the other in the valley”.
“Why did he (PM Modi) take about 80 days to speak on Manipur and just spoke for 30 seconds? After that, there has been no peace appeal on Manipur from him. Ministers are saying they will speak, but as the Prime Minister, the power of his words cannot be matched by ministers. Through the no-confidence motion, we want to break his vow of silence,” Gogoi said.
The Lok Sabha started the discussion on the no-confidence motion in the morning.
