Sweeper sits on hunger strike protesting job termination

Jajpur,NOV 20 : A sweeper of a  government hospital in Jajpur district started an indefinite hunger strike by prostrating   in front of the main entrance of the hospital protesting against his termination from the service as a result patients, doctors and other staff faced problems to enter the hospital.

The service of Deepak Gochayat a fourth grade employee of the Community  Health Center at Bari was terminated  by the medical officer  last week on the alleged charges of dereliction of duties in the hospital  and taking liquor regularly for which he started an indefinite hunger strike by  lying down  since  the past two days , demanding his  reposting as a sweeper in the hospital.

When contacted  Dr Sabir Hussein the Medical Officer of the CHC  said “  Deepak Gochayat had been working in the hospital as a  contractual worker. He used to come to the hospital in an inebriated state regularly for which we terminated his service after serving him notice.  ”.
