Tribal and Orphan Athletes from Malkangiri Set to Compete in State Judo Tournament

Malkangiri, Oct 7: A 15-member judo team from Malkangiri district has left for Khurda to participate in the state-level judo championship, which will be held from October 8 to 12 at KT Global School. The team, comprising players from various tribal communities and orphans, will compete in several categories, including Sub-Junior Boys, Sub-Junior Girls, Cadet Boys, Junior Men, and Senior Women.
The District Judo Association and Aaoma Gurukul have played a pivotal role in training and supporting these players, providing them with the opportunity to showcase their skills at this prestigious event. In a heartwarming gesture, the district administration organized a special send-off ceremony today to boost the morale of the young athletes.
The event was graced by notable officials such as Zila Parishad CDO-cum-EO Naresh Chandra Shabar, Finance Officer Manas Mishra, Technical Development Officer Himanshu Maharna, IIC Regan Kindo and District Sports Officer Madhav Pangi, all of whom expressed their support and encouragement to the team.
The team management includes Female Manager Laxmi Sodi, Male Manager Nakul Kirsani, and Team Manager Rama Madkami. This championship marks a significant opportunity for the players to gain recognition at the state level while representing their district with pride.
Malkangiri is hopeful for a strong performance by its judo team in the upcoming event.
